Antifungal effects of Nigella sativa L. (Black cumin) seed extracts and seed oil on selected Candida albicans strains

The seed extracts of Nigella sativa (black cumin) have been used in different civilizations around the world for centuries to treat various animal and human ailments. C. albicans is a member normal microbiome, but under certain circumstances it can cause infections that range from superficial skin life-threatening systemic infections. Resistance antifungal drugs has on increase recent years. Several factors such as biofilm formation overexpression genes efflux drug pump identified contribute pathogenic potential this fungus. This research examined effects black cumin oil C wild-type (C1 C2) URA3 delete (CAF2 CAI4) strains. Effects key (MDS3 MDR1) involved resistance were also investigated. Aqueous methanol plant seeds prepared using standard procedure. N. seeds, well oil, antimicrobial screening analysis agar diffusion technique, while fluconazole was drug. aqueous methanolic greatly inhibited clinical isolates C1 C2. Interestingly, URA3-delete strains only by oil. amplification target presented some intriguing results, with gene(s) detected prior exposure or after agent at both instances. sativa, particularly proven fluconazole-resistant varying resistant genes.
